1995: Takeover of Hotel Storchen in Schönenwerd

Takeover of Hotel Storchen in Schönenwerd

Peter and Monika Lustenberger establish the LUMEGA Family and acquire the traditional Hotel Storchen in Schönenwerd SO from Bally Schuhfabrik AG. The establishment features two restaurants, a bar with a discotheque, five seminar and banquet rooms, and 24 stylish hotel rooms.
Since 1863, the Hotel Storchen has been a popular meeting place and a household name for gourmets and travellers on the historic main route between Zurich and Bern.
2001: Foundation of LUMEGA & gourmet restaurant at Hotel Storchen

Foundation of LUMEGA & gourmet restaurant at Hotel Storchen

LUMEGA AG was founded in the same year as the umbrella organisation and legal entity of the LUMEGA Family.
The restaurant at the Hotel Storchen in Schönenwerd was renovated, giving rise to the Giardino bistro/lounge and the gourmet restaurant "la cuisine". The gourmet restaurant was immediately awarded 14 points by Gault Millau and included in the Guide Bleu and Guide Michelin.
In addition, the Hotel Restaurant Neuhaus was taken over by the LUMEGA Family in its fifth generation with Monika Lustenberger-Meier. The halls and dining room were completely redesigned into a new restaurant concept with a bar and lounge in the entrance area.
2005: Extension of the Beletage Hotel Storchen

Extension of the Beletage Hotel Storchen

In 2005, the Hotel Storchen was expanded with the addition of a third floor and 14 superior and 11 business hotel rooms on the new bel étage (52 hotel rooms in total), as well as an additional sports lounge (fitness) and spa.
2009: Extension of Hotel Neuhaus in Nussbaumen

In 2009, Restaurant Neuhaus was expanded to include a hotel with eight rooms and three staff rooms, as well as a seminar room with a foyer (formerly a bowling alley).
2011: Takeover of Gasthaus Waldegg in Horw

Takeover of Gasthaus Waldegg in Horw

In 2011, the Gasthaus zur Waldegg was taken over by the LUMEGA Family under the management of Peter Lustenberger and extensively renovated over the following two years. In addition to the time-honoured Arvenstube, an à la carte restaurant, the Luzerner Stübli and the Pilatusstübli were created. The latter was designed as a new banquet room. At the same time, the Waldegg Bar was modernised.
2011-2014: Hotel classification and F&B expansion

Hotel classification and F&B expansion

In 2011, Hotel Storchen was classified by HotellerieSuisse as the first 3-star superior hotel in the Aarau-Olten region. A year later, the "atelier cuisine" event hall opened in the old laundry building of the Bally shoe factory. This pop-up product offers an additional F&B experience for special events: a Belle Époque show kitchen and bar with props from the Grand Hotel Bürgenstock.
In the hotel sector, the hotel rooms and suites on the first and second floors as well as the meeting rooms were completely renovated in 2014. Furthermore, the Hotel Storchen was reclassified by HotellerieSuisse as a 4-star hotel and became a partner of the Best Western Plus label.
2014: Extension of the Waldegg Hotel

Extension of the Waldegg Hotel

In 2014, the hotel area was expanded and converted into a boutique hotel with a 3-star superior standard and contemporary comforts.
2019: Modernisation of Hotel Neuhaus

Modernisation of Hotel Neuhaus

In 2019, Ernst Meier III took over the management of the business as tenant. This was followed by a gentle renovation of the restaurant area (lounge and garden terrace).
2020: Anniversary and handover of Hotel Storchen

Anniversary and handover of Hotel Storchen

In 2020, Hotel Storchen celebrates two anniversaries: 50 years of Hotel Storchen and 25 years of ownership and management by the LUMEGA family. On 1 July 2020, Hotel Storchen will be handed over to b_smart selection from Liechtenstein. The hotel has since been operated as b_smart Hotel Schönenwerd.
2022: Extension of Boutique Hotel Waldegg

Extension of Boutique Hotel Waldegg

During the coronavirus pandemic, the hotel wing was expanded and equipped with a new entrance and a guest lift. Since 2022, the hotel has had 35 superior rooms and three family rooms/suites on the bel étage.
2024: Takeover of Gasthof Linde in Mühlethal

Takeover of Gasthof Linde in Mühlethal

Since 1949, the Linde Mühlethal inn has been shaped by the Kunz-Orlando family. In 2024, a new chapter began with the takeover by the LUMEGA family. Since October 2024, the business has been run by their son Maurin Lustenberger.
2025: Construction of Stay Flex Hotel in Nussbaumen

Construction of Stay Flex Hotel in Nussbaumen

Groundbreaking ceremony and start of construction of the stay flex hotel in Nussbaumen by the LUMEGA Family. The opening is planned for spring 2026 under the operational management of son Andreas Lustenberger.
